I don't know about you, but on my lunch break i tuned into the US commerce committee on CSPAN and watched a hearing concerning net neutrality.
various innovators like the maker of the sling box and the leaders of youtube testified that without the open internet, the innovations they created would have never existed. instead they would have been given the booth by companies like AT&T.
check it out...

The House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet Hearing regarding the future of video was interesting. I work with the Hands Off the Internet coalition on this issue so I too took my lunch break to tune in.
Did you catch Mark Cuban's comments? As he noted, broadband capacity is the key issue. Here is an entry from his blog on the issue.

This should be the focus not enacting preemptive regulations based on hypothetical scenarios. Instead of relying on what could happen in the future and what could have happened in the past, has anyone proved that our current laws and regulations are insufficient to handle these hypothetical situations where supposedly the ISPs will bring about the end of the internet?
Thanks.
i did see cuban speak at that hearing.
i am unaware of anyone disproving the capacity of current laws to handle future scenarios.
logically that would be impossible to do anyway, right?
for us at N3 we just want to ensure that the liberty and freedoms the internet can provide to all people, especially those people marginalized by the system, remain intact. democracy cannot occur without free speech, whether it is in support or dissent.
